The Eighth Annual
First United Church of Christ
Golf Tournament
August 20st, 2007
Orange Hills Country Club

As the days continue to get longer and the sun warms the air, many of you who play in and enjoy the Annual First Church Golf Outing are already dreaming of green fairways, long drives and those nasty three-foot, down hill breaking putts that just don't seem to go in the hole.

Our 9th Annual Golf Tournament to raise money for the historic preservation of our Milford landmark will be better than ever. This year some of the projects include a new roof at the Plymouth Building, the Choir Room floor replacement, and major yard work at Winthrop court.

This year's tournament will be held on Monday, August 18th at Orange Hills Country Club, 389 Racebrook Road, Orange and will begin at 7:15 am  with a Continental Breakfast. The festivities will end with a Post Tournament Barbecue from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Milford Yacht Club, 131 Trumbull Avenue, Milford.

The entry fee is $175.00 per person for golfers and $50.00 per person for Barbeque only. All players receive a sleeve of balls and tees.

Team prizes will be awarded as well as prizes for Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive (male and female). There are also sponsorship opportunities available: Hole and Tee Sponsors at $175 each, Meal Sponsors at $500 each, and Prize/Raffle donations.

Members and friends, get your sunglasses, sun block and beach towels ready for some splashing fun at First Church's "Take the Plunge" VBS.  Each day we will plunge into the Word and learn how Jesus used the very common element of water to teach some very uncommon lessons.  As we soak up the Word, we will plunge into obedience, worship, courage, faith and service.  It will be a week of fun and excitement sure to make a splash with kids of all ages!

Registration for attendees:  children age 3 – 7th grade, registration must be received by June 8th.  Nursery care will be provided for those whose parents are volunteering; register for a childcare space by June 8th.  Find registration forms in the Narthex or the Church Office, or register at Information and Online Registration.  VBS is a ministry of Christian formation and outreach for all involved, so there will be no formal cost for the week.

Sounds like fun but you don't meet the age requirements?  Folks in 8th Grade and older are welcome to serve in the sun as group leaders/counselors, artists& crafters, fun & games gurus, musicians, worship/drama team, snack crafters, and storytellers.

The Pumpkin Patch

11:00 am to 7:00 pm Daily

The Senior High Pilgrim Fellowship youth group sold pumpkins in the field behind the Plymouth Building at 16 West Main Street. The sale of these pumpkins will help to support the Senior High Mission Trip to New Orleans where our young people and their advisors will dedicate a week in June of 2008 to reconstruction in the area devastated by hurricane Katrina.  We want to thank all who bought pumpkins and all who worked in the patch.
