Roger B. Brockett -- Retired

Church Sexton - Roger served First Church for 39 years. He grew up in Milford and in First Church, and from Tuesday to Saturday, you would likely encounter Roger working in one of our Church buildings or on the Church grounds.

As the Church Sexton, Roger was responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of our five Church properties. He met with staff and helped to prepare our meeting and worship space for the many activities that take place within our Church.

On April 24, 2016, First Church celebrated Roger's service that started in 1977.   An official Proclamation was given by Milford's Mayor Ben Blake and presented by Roger's Uncle, retired Milford Mayor.  The church band played some of Roger's favorite Grateful songs. Rev. Adam preached on joy.  Carol LaBrake, John Torrento, Rev. Jim Tudesco and Rev. Ashley Grant offered words of congradulatory reflection on Roger's service.

The church gave Roger a beautiful picture of the congregation taken by Mike Lucas and a "grateful fund" collection; the Sunday School gave Roger two blue Adirondak chairs and a framed certificate of appreciation for his efforts over the years to create welcoming spaces for faith formation; the Trustees gave Roger a weed whacker, which he promises to use occasionally.  Other ministries and individuals honored him in special ways.  And we had a beautiful reception with some of Roger's favorites thanks to Michele, Ann, Letty and many others.

Things will be very different now...but we pray that God continues to bless Roger in his much deserved retirement!  Well done, Roger.

And Happy Birthday on May 8!
