Every Sunday at the 10:00 am worship, adults and children gather in the Meetinghouse sanctuary to begin worship together. Children are invited to go to their Sunday School classes after a Children's Message or other liturgical break. Even though our primary goal is to teach our children the story of God's love for us, we also want them to feel that they are an important part of our worshipping Church community. We are glad that our Lectionary approach to curriculum will help integrate our worship experience and our Sunday School experience.
Classes are offered for children age 3 through the Seventh Grade. We offer nursery care for younger children. Our Sunday School classes are taught by a dedicated and faith group of volunteers, who are still listening for God's voice to enrich their own faith. Our 2nd Graders receive a Bible, as a gift from First Church; they learn how to use the Bible and listen for God's voice through its amazing faith stories. Our rising 8th Graders, who are entering the Confirmation Program, also receive a Bible to help them along on their journey.
Through story, drama, activities, art, music and more, the good news of the Bible will come alive for us in Sunday School. We might grow to see ourselves and our stories in the epic of God's love and call as we strive for God's Peace in our lives and our world.
Throughout the year, there are a number of events and celebrations that highlight our Church year: the Sunday School Celebration Day Worship, Bible Workshops, Advent Programs, Wintry Day Children's Worship, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Good Friday Worship & Activities, an Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Kids' Program, White Gift Mission, Christmas Pageant and always something more.
We offer special Children's worship services throughout the year, which meet in Woodruff Chapel (or in Fellowship Hall). This time will provide a worship experience geared to the age-level of participants and is sometimes led by the students themselves. The children love these special services! We ask that parents drop children off at Woodruff Chapel (which is located on the other side of the river in our Plymouth Building) at 9:55 AM, so that parents will be able to head over to the main sanctuary for the 10 AM worship service. Some parents are invited to stay and help along with our volunteer teachers and assistants. After the worship service, meet your child at the Chapel.
*Weather Happens...In the event of inclement weather, we will adjust plans and space as needed.
