UCC Ministries

Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM) Basic Support and Special Support provide funding for the work of UCC Conference and National ministries in support of the life and work of the local church and its members. OCWM changes lives by strengthening our ecumenical relationships and global partnerships, by imagining and embodying a better world through prophetic witness and work, and by providing resources and programs to nurture the vitality of our United Church of Christ congregations.

Covenanted Ministries of the UCC

Justice and Witness Ministries, one of four Covenanted Ministries in the UCC, helps local congregations and all settings of the church respond to God's commandments to do justice, seek peace and effect change for a better world. The work of JWM is guided by the pronouncements and resolutions approved by the UCC at General Synod.

Local Church Ministries, one of four Covenanted Ministries, encourages and supports the church's congregations in the fulfillment of God's mission. Local Church Ministries works through three area: Congregational Vitality and Discipleship Development; Parish Life and Leadership and its publication arm; specific thematic areas, such as:
• Evangelism
• Stewardship and Church Finance
• Worship and Education
• Publications, Resources and Distribution
• Parish Life and Leadership
• Church Building & Loan Fund

The Office of General Ministries, one of four Covenanted Ministries, cares for the spiritual life, unity, and well-being of the church, to nurture our covenantal life and its ecumenical and interfaith relationships, to provide regular processes which focus on theological reflection throughout the church; and to assist in the total mission of the United Church of Christ. The Office of General Ministries works through five teams:
Office of the General Ministers
Common Services Ministry
Covenantal Relations Ministry
Proclamation, Identity and Communication Ministry
Financial Development Ministry

These teams provide common services for the national setting of the church; care for relations with Conferences, other faith traditions and racial/ethnic constituencies in the church; provide platforms for communication within the church and the church's relations with the media; and assist the national setting in its financial development.

Wider Church Ministries, one of four Covenanted Ministries, supports congregations and the other settings of the church in developing relationships with a wider church that is global, multiracial and multicultural, open and affirming, and accessible to all. Our Executive Minister is The Rev. Cally Rogers-Witte. Wider Church Ministries is in partnership with the Division of Overseas Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Common Global Ministries—the worldwide mission program of both denominations.
