White Gift Collection Project

Making Christmas Brighter for Local Children

Nov. 8-Dec.13, 2015

During the seasons of Advent and Christmas, we prepare our hearts for the miraculous gift of Christ. Having received of this gift, we hope to share God's love with others.  The Giving Trees will be up soon!  Ornaments will decorate the trees in Fellowship Hall, the Narthex and Woodruff Chapel Narthex. On each ornament you will find the Christmas wishes of a girl or boy in our area whose family needs our help this season.

The White Gift Collection Team asks the members and friends of First Church to take an ornament from the Giving Trees (or multiple ornaments, if you are able), prayerfully consider the child and his/her wishes, and purchase a gift (or gifts) requested.  You may also team up with a friend or another family to sponsor the child (children).

We ask that you fulfill at least one of the wishes, and it might not be the first wish. Bring gifts to the Christmas Pageant and Worship Service on Sunday, Dec. 13.  These gifts will be our symbolic offerings to the Christ child. The gifts will be collected by the appropriate agencies, which we are sponsoring this year, and delivered to their recipients the following week.

If you have any questions regarding this ministry or if you would like to make a donation and have someone else do the shopping, please speak with Ann Sabo or contact Ashley Grant at mfducc.cemin@gmail.com.

A "Green" White Gift Project: The White Gift Mission Team suggests that you use grocery bags, recycled wrapping paper, or white garbage bags to wrap your gifts.  During the sorting process, the gifts have to be unwrapped, and we prefer not to waste expensive wrapping materials; plus, we will use the bags when the social workers pick up gifts.
