BICENTENNIAL

First United Church of Christ of Milford celebrates the 200th anniversary of our Meetinghouse!

Founding members of First Church helped establish our Milford community 384 years ago. For the past 200 years, we've journeyed with people through significant milestones: baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals. We have weathered storms, wars, and change. We've ministered from this sacred space to local needs through programs like Milford Food 2 Kids, the Emma Davis Medical Equipment Ministry, our White Gift Ministry and our food pantry. 

In September of 1823, First Church began building our 3rd meeting house, which stands today as a beacon! Help us to continue shining that light from this Faith Building and into the community now and for generations to come! 

UPCOMING BICENTENNIAL EVENTS

  • Kick off this Bicentennial Anniversary Year with worship and a Bicentennial Homecoming Picnic on September 24, 2023. Thank you to those who joined us for a great event!
  • September 30, 2023 - Sun Kings: A Beatles Tribute rocked the Meetinghouse! Thank you to the Outreach Ministry, along with our Youth Ministries, for hosting. We are super grateful for the amazing raffles. See the donors and supporters below!
  • Faith-Building Practices: Discipleship Today-Join Rev. Adam Eckhart for a six-part series on basic practices of Christian Faith, starting Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 7 PM.   
  • Capture the Moment Photography Sessions with Stephanie DeLuca Photography. Schedule a session for your family, you or a group of your friends on October 21st or October 28th. Email: stephanie.l.deluca@outlook.com or call 203-231-2250 to schedule. All proceeds benefit the Bicentennial! 
  • On November 21, 2023--Join us for the Community Thanksgiving Worship in the Meetinghouse.  
  • On December 17, 2023--the community is invited to the Candlelight Carol Service-Christmas through the years. 
  • On March 3, 2024-- Join us for Sampler: an afternoon of poetry and prose, currated by Dave Gregory of his work over the years. 3 PM in the Sanctuary.
  • On Sunday, April 14th, 2024, First Church Milford will celebrate its Meetinghouse's bicentennial with a 10 AM worship service, tours and talks from 11:00 AM to noon, a reception, and a brief rededication ceremony at noon. Our morning worship will lift up the ministry that has shaped this community and that will carry God's love forward.  Explore our Faith Builidng through a new lens from our tours and talks, honoring the past and seeing where God is calling us in the years to come. We will also dedicate commerative bricks and enjoy the rededication ceremony of the First Church Meetinghouse.
