Maundy Thursday

Thursday, March 29, 2018--John 13:34-35 (John 13 if you have time)
"I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you..."

"What is Maundy Thursday?" asked a friend at the bus stop.

For me and maybe everyone of my generation, "Maundy" brings to mind The Bangles. After singing my modified version of "Just another manic Maundy, whoa, whoa..." at the bus stop, we talked about it, and about Palm Sunday and Easter, too.

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter, which makes it a little manic for anyone who serves a church. It is observed to remember the Last Supper.

Maundy means something too--so I found this 2 minute video to give you are run down.

Now, tonight, imagine that supper and join us as we commemorate it at 7:30 PM in the Sanctuary.

Prayer: In our manic preparation, Oh God, settle us to be fully present to the day before us and the unfolding drama of your story. And give us courage. Amen.

Rev. Ashley
